MULTAN, Dec 4: The provincial authorities concerned have created a supernumerary post of OSD in BS-18 to end the confusion gripping the local excise and taxation department as two senior officials claim to be the occupant of regional director office.

In his orders, provincial excise and taxation secretary Sami Saeed has placed Syed Ghulam Murtaza Shah as OSD in the Multan district government against a special post sanctioned by the provincial finance department on Nov 11 last.

Mr Shah will, however, remain under suspension. Working as the Multan RD of the excise and taxation department, he was transferred to the headquarters a few months ago where he was later on put under suspension.

Afterwards, he moved to the services tribunal against his transfer on the ground that an official could not be transferred against his will during the last two years of reaching the age of superannuation.

The tribunal had disposed of the case in his favour on Nov 11 last. However, by that time another officer Javed Iqbal had been posted in his place at the Multan office.

After getting verdict from the services tribunal, Mr Shah pressed his successor to relinquish the charge while the latter refused to do so without being ordered by the competent authorities.
