RAWALPINDI, Nov 27: An anti-terrorism court on Saturday acquitted vice-president of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi, former MNA Nawab Amanullah Sial and another accused Hussain Shah in Maulana Azam Tariq murder case.

Two other accused, Allama Sibtain Kazmi and Rizwan Ali, have already been declared proclaimed offenders.

Anti-Terrorism Court 1 judge Manzoor Ahmed Mirza announced the verdict in the presence of Allama Naqvi, Nawab Sial and Hussain Shah in Adiala Jail, where the court had been hearing the case because of security reasons.

The judge said the three accused had been acquitted because of the prosecution's failure to prove their involvement in the case.

The judge had concluded the trial and reserved the judgment on Nov 20.

According to the prosecution the accused had conspired to kill the former chief of the banned Millat-e-Islamia (Pakistan) party Maulana Azam Tariq.

Allama Sajid Naqvi, Nawab Amanullah Sial and Hussain Shah denied the charge.

Allama Naqvi's Tehrik-e-Jaffaria Pakistan had been banned on suspicion of its being involved in sectarianism.
