KARACHI, Nov 20: The Chief Controller of Buildings, Brig (Retd) A.S. Nasir, has reiterated his resolve that irregular and illegal constructions will not be tolerated and action against such buildings will continue notwithstanding any pressure , and to restore the city's beauty.

He was speaking at an Eid Milan reception hosted by the Karachi Building Control Authority for the officials and staff of its demolition squad. District Coordination Officer Karachi Fazlur Rehman was the chief guest.

The KBCA chief said that December 31, 2004 was the final date for regularization of illegally constructed buildings after which, no concession would be allowed to those involved in irregular constructions.

He announced that betterment charges recovered from the regularization process, would be spent on reconstruction and development works.

In his speech, the DCO said that it was an acknowledged fact that Brig Nasir, since taking over as the CCOB, had initiated sincere steps and made practical efforts for the city's development and positive construction activities.

He extended felicitations to the chief controller and demolition squad and praised their performance, and said that the growing credibility and prestige of the authority was reflective from the way they discharged their duties with hard work and honesty. - APP
