LAHORE, Nov 11: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said the government will examine the problems of the poultry industry and take proper steps for solving them.

This he said while talking to a delegation of businessmen led by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry convener on poultry Abdul Basit, who called on him in Islamabad to draw his attention towards the crisis-like situation in the industry.

The prime minister said the government was doing a lot for every sector of the economy and would not ignore the poultry industry.

He said the private sector should take advantage of the economic reforms and consistency of government policies and play its role in the economic development of the country.

The government, he said, was paying special attention to the welfare of the common man and improvement with special focus on the law and order situation.

Mr Basit and delegation members informed the prime minister that poultry was the second largest industry in the country after textile and had been facing crisis-like situation due to lack of government attention.

They urged the prime minister to announce a special package for saving the industry playing a significant role in meeting the meat requirements of the country.
