HYDERABAD, Nov 10: The planning and development control department of the Hyderabad Development Authority notified here on Wednesday that the Sindh government under a notification dated Aug 3, 2004 , had banned sub-divisions, amalgamation, commercialization and construction of multi-storey buildings till further orders.
Consequently, the notification said, all sanctions and approvals in this regard issued from Feb 21, 2004, till date had been suspended.
The affected parties have been advised to contact the directorate of planning and development control in Qasimabad so that their cases might be reviewed.
FINE: The special judicial magistrates of Hyderabad district on Monday and Tuesday imposed a fine totallingRs10,500 on 34 hoarders and profiteers.
Three shopkeepers were fined Rs800 in the City taluka, threefinedRs700 in Latifabad taluka, two others Rs300 in Tando Mohammad Khan taluka, one shopkeeper was fined of Rs1,000 in Matiari taluka and 25 shopkeepers were fined of Rs7,700 in Tando Allahyar taluka.
Syed Habib Ahmed Naqvi delivered a presentation on his PhD thesis at the Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering of the University of Sindh on Wednesday.
The thesis is on "biosynthesis isolation, purification and characterization of lipase by mucor geophillus using sugarcane waste as a carbon source.
Vice Chancellor of the university Mazharul Haq Siddiqui presided over the seminar and said that the work was related to industry and ultimately benefited the society. He appreciated the research work.
Professor Asif Ali Kazi, dean of faculty of Natural Sciences, highlighted the research work.
Dr Mohammad Umar Dahot, supervisor and director of the institute, introduced the scholar and his research work to the audience.
WATER CONFERENCE: A sub-committee appointed by the Anti-Greater Thal Canal Action Committee met here on Tuesday to review arrangements for holding the All Pakistan Water Conference on Dec 5 in Karachi.
The committee decided to issue invitatations to leaders of all provinces to attend the conference.
