KARACHI, Nov 9: The city government will carry out development work in four industrial areas with various taxes as well as grants from federal and provincial governments.

The Export Promotion Bureau will also contribute in improvement of infrastructure in Landhi, Korangi, F.B Area and New Karachi industrial areas from the Export Development Tax.

This decision was taken in a meeting of four industrial areas development boards, which were formed to undertake development projects under Tameer-i-Karachi Programme. The meeting was held a few days back with EDO Enterprise and Investment Promotion Raeesuddin Paracha in chair.

Giving details about other decisions taken in the meeting, the officials said that board offices would be established within the vicinity of respective industrial area, as identified by the works and services department.

Refurbishment of board office and provision of furniture would be carried out with the assistance of respective association in all industrial boards.

The meeting also decided to provide Rs25,000 as seed money to each board to meet the stationery and other pretty expenditures.

The DDO Finance would work out proportion of property and land tax in these areas for which separate accounts had been opened, the officials said.

As per decision of City Nazim Naimatullah Khan, who had decided to spend the amount collected on property and land heads for infrastructure development in these areas, separate accounts had been opened. The works and services department and the KWSB would conduct their own surveys in order to ascertain the requirements of development in these areas.

The officials said that respective DOs of the area board would ensure the compliance of decisions of this meeting.-PPI
