Jahangir and Nasir star for Lahore

LAHORE, Nov 8: Fine batting by Nasir Jamshed and Jahangir Mirza, who scored half centuries, enabled Lahore to thrash Quetta by eight wickets in the National Inter-region Under-19 One-day cricket tournament match at the Country Club in Muridke on Monday.

Nasir scored 72 (off 59 balls, 10 fours and one six) and Jahangir (75 off 94 balls, 12 fours, one six) as Lahore achieved their target by scoring 225 for two in 38.4 overs.

In a thrilling match, Sialkot beat Karachi by two runs at the Sheikhupura Stadium. Chasing a target of 197, Karachi were all out for 195 in 44.1 overs due to fine bowling by leg-spinner Hafiz Nadeem, who finished five for 30.

A gallant 102-ball 93 by opener Abdul Mannan steered Faisalabad to five-wicket win over Hyderabad at the Municipal Sports Complex. Mannan hit 12 boundaries as Faisalabad easily achieved the target of 165 for the loss of five wickets in 37 overs.

APP adds: Peshawar beat Rawalpindi by 42 runs at the KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi.

Put into bat, Peshawar piled up 252 for six in the allotted 45 overs and then bowled out Rawalpindi for 210 in 40.3 overs.

Riaz Kail top-scored for Peshawar with 59 not out, studded with five boundaries, while Fawwad Ali made 46 punctuated with eight hits to the fence.

However, it was Fawwad Khan who proved the difference between the two teams with 49 off just 20 balls as he smashed five sixes and two fours in his whirlwind knock.

For Rawalpindi, Tanvir Afzal grabbed 2-36 while his fellow medium-pacer Zohaib Ahmed had 1-48. Off-spinner Danish Hanif got 1-49.

Ali Sarfraz made 55 for Rawalpindi with six boundaries while Sajid Ali hit 47.
