All set to mark Iqbal Day

KARACHI, Nov 8: Iqbal Day would be marked in Karachi as elsewhere in the country in a befitting manner on Nov 9. A number of social, cultural and educational organizations have chalked out various programmes for the day, which has been declared as a public holiday.

The National Museum of Pakistan has arranged a special exhibition, where selected photographs of Allama Iqbal and his publications would be put on display. The publications: Javed Nama, Che Bayad Kardae Aqwami Maghrib and Zarb-i-Kalim are signed by him.

The exhibition arranged at its foyer would be opened on Nov 9 for general public while the galleries of the museum would remain closed, states a press release of the National Museum of Pakistan here on Monday.

The Pakistan Academy of Letters will organize a programme at the City Officers Club on Kashmir Road on Tuesday at 3.30pm.

City Nazim Naimatullah Khan and Director of Quaid-i-Azam Academy, Karachi, Dr Yaqoob Mughal will be the chief guests on the occasion while Dr Anwar Sajjad would preside over the programme. Speakers would include Sajjad Mir, Prof Abdullah Zakir and Dr Abdul Ghaffar Soomro.

The Allama Iqbal Forum will organize a conference at Muslim League House at 5pm. The forum's president, Alhaj Azad Bin Haider, will preside over the conference.

Senior vice-president of PML, Sindh, Alhaj Shamimuddin; Abdul Ghafoor Qureshi, Dr Rahimul Haq, Bostan Ali Hoti, Amanullah Piracha, Mahfooz Yar Khan and others will speak on the occasion.

The Awami Himayet Tehreek Pakistan will arrange Allama Iqbal Conference on Tuesday after Asr at its central secretariat, F.B Area.

Sir Adamjee Institute will celebrate the Iqbal Day on Nov 10 at the college auditorium, says an announcement on Monday. Qutubuddin Aziz will be the chief guest on the occasion. The director of Education Resource Development Centre, Salman Asif Siddiqui, will give a presentation on " Masjid-i-Qurtuba" at the programme. -APP
