RAWALPINDI, Nov 8: An assistant sub-inspector of special branch Rawalpindi has been booked by the civil lines police on charges of hurling threats to a suspect during investigation on Sunday, the police said.

Imran Aslam Qureshi complained to the police that his uncle Rafiq, who had been identified as a suspect in an attempt of murder case, had been summoned by the police for questioning.

The complainant alleged that while the investigating officer was questioning his uncle, the ASI Muhammad Ashraf who had been sitting with the investigating officer started taunting him over complaining to the DPO.

He alleged that the ASI threatened Imran who again went to the DPO and informed him about the treatment meted out to him by the ASI. It led to the registration of a case against the ASI who is yet to be arrested.

Meanwhile, some auto-thieves lifted four vehicles from different parts of Rawalpindi, police said on Monday.

Chaudhry Muhammad Sarfraz, lodged a complaint with the Ganjmandi police saying that his car (P-0384) was stolen from the parking-lot of the district headquarters hospital while Dr Hafiz Attaur Rehman's car (RIT-1662) was stolen from Lala Rukh, Wah Cantt. Noman Khursheed's car (RIX-1629) was lifted from Saddar while Muhammad Bashir complained the Airport police that some unidentified thieves broke into his house in his absence and took away with them his motorbike (RIW-3348), a television set and some other valuable items.
