ISLAMABAD, Nov 4: The government is taking measures to ensure welfare and protection of the rights of labourers and workers in the country, said the federal minister for labour, manpower and overseas Pakistanis, Ghulam Sarwar Khan.

Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of labour organizations and federations from all over the country here on Thursday, he assured them the effective implementation of labour policy.

The minister said the amended bill about IRO-2002 with the consultation of employer and employee would be presented in the National Assembly, adding that 27-B of Banking Ordinance would also be reviewed.

He also said the number of representatives of labour organizations would be enhanced in WWF on federal and provincial levels. He added that labour cities in the four provinces would also be established for industrial workers.
