ISLAMABAD, Nov 3: The Indus River System Authority (Irsa) discharged on Tuesday 98,713 cusecs water from various rim stations against the inflow of 57,058 cusecs, official sources said.

The released water from reservoirs was 41,655 cusecs higher than the total inflow recorded on Tuesday.

The water level at Tarbela, the major water reservoir, was recorded at 1,470.92 feet, which is 101 feet higher than the dead level of 1,369 feet, sources added. However, the present water level at the dam is still 80 feet lower than the total capacity of the dam, which is 1,550 feet.

According to an official of Irsa, water inflow at the dam remained 27,900 cusecs while the release was recorded at 55,000 cusecs, which is higher than the inflow. Giving details about the Mangla dam, the sources said that the water level at Mangla dam was recorded at 1,155.90 feet, which is 115 feet above the dead level of 1,040 feet.

Water inflow at the dam remained 9,445 cusecs while the outflow recorded on Tuesday was at 24,000 cusecs, which is also higher than the inflow. The total capacity of the dam is 1,202 feet.

The contribution of River Kabul and River Chenab was recorded at 10,500 cusecs and 9,213 cusecs, respectively.-APP
