DADU, Nov 3: A large number of primary teachers staged a demonstration outside the press club here on Tuesday in protest against non-payment of their salaries for five months.
They told newsmen that the education department had appointed 58 teachers on the deceased quota some five months back but the district accounts officer was not releasing their salaries.
They said they would continue protest till the release of their salaries. They also observed a token hunger strike outside the press club for acceptance of their demands.
PROTEST: Activists of different political parties took out a procession here on Tuesday in protest against police torture on a labourer.
They marched on the main roads and staged a demonstration outside the DPO and DCO offices.
The vice-president of the Dadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Hashim Qambrani, GSTA leader Furqan Kaboro, PTA leader Qayoom Memon and Maula Bux Mastoi led the protestors.
Speaking on the occasion, they said that a motorcycle mechanic Khaliq Charan was arrested after a scuffle with an advocate a few days back.
They alleged that the police were subjecting the mechanic to torture who was already injured in the scuffle.
Aziz Rehman advocate said Khaliq Charan and his friends had attacked him some few days back when he was sitting in his office. He said a case was registered against Mr Charan and he was arrested the police.
SUSPENDED: Two taluka municipal officials were suspended on Tuesday for their failure in maintaining sanitation, drainage and water supply system in Dadu town.
Sanitary supervisor Gulzar Jogro and in-charge for solid waste disposal Nizam Solangi were suspended by the Dadu Taluka Nazim following public complaints.
