KARACHI, Nov 1: The process of admissions for masters programme at the University of Karachi for the next academic session would commence from Nov 2.

An announcement to this effect was made by the spokesman of Karachi University on Monday. He said that the admission forms as well as the prospectus would be available from the 11 designated branches of the United Bank.

The branches are Nazimabad Chowrangi, Bahadurabad, Malir Township, New Karachi, University Road, Hyderi, Hamid Square Gulshan's Block-3, Drigh Colony, Landhi Industrial Area, Binori Town, Defence Garden Branch.

He said that the duly filled forms could be submitted in any of these branches till Nov 11. The final list of the admission would be put on display on Nov 27, he added.

The admission schedule was decided at the meeting of the Academic Council of Karachi University, which had finalized the date for the commencement of the admission process at the university.

KU Vice-Chancellor Prof Pirzada Qasim had presided over the meeting, which decided that the admissions for the MA/ MSc classes would be conducted from Nov 2 to 11 and those of Honours and BPharmacy classes would begin from Nov 18.

The meeting also decided to do away with the donors' seats and all admissions would be granted on the basis of merit. Merit lists for admissions to Masters classes would be displayed on Nov 27 and that for the Honours classes would be issued on Dec 18.

The vice-chancellor was authorized by the academic council to form a committee to look into the syllabus, duration and other matters pertaining to the evening programme so that improvements could be brought about.

It was decided that the application for transfer of enrolment of the Dow University on the request of students would be considered keeping in view the legal aspects.

The spokesman said that on the directive of the vice- chancellor, a camp would be set up where teachers would make available all the relevant information to those seeking admission to the university classes.

BBA, MBA: Entrance test for BBA (Honours) and MBA classes at Karachi University will be held on Nov 21.

This was announced by the Chairman of Karachi University's Business School, Prof (Dr) Abdul Rehman Zaki, on Monday. He said that the test for BBA would be conducted on Nov 21 at 10am while that for the MBA would be held at 2.30pm on the same day at arts faculty departments.

The list of successful candidates would be put on display at the Silver Jubilee Gate of the university on Dec 4 at 3pm, he added.

EXAM FORMS: The University of Karachi has announced that exam forms of Diploma in Clinical Neurology (DCN) Annual Examinations 2004 will be accepted upto Nov 9 without any late fee. -APP/PPI
