MARDAN, Oct 28: Amir Jamaat-i-Islami Qazi Hussein Ahmed has ruled out the possibility of the participation of both NWFP Chief Minister Akram Durrani and leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Maulana Fazlur Rehman in a meeting of the National Security Council (NSC), however a final decision would be taken by the MMA supreme council meeting which would be held soon.
Talking to newsmen here at the Madrassa Tafheemul Quran during his visit to a four-bed hospital set up by the Tafheem Welfare Foundation (TWF), Qazi said that the MMA had already opposed the NSC and would not participate in its meeting. He said that the NSC was a controversial institution because it would politicize the armed forces. He said that such an institution was also established in Turkey, which was now a great hurdle to its governing the Europe Community to it.
About the recent proposal on the Kashmir offered by Pervez Musharraf, he said that such statement had no status and we do not recognize Kashmir as integral part of India. He said that the best solution of Kashmir was to follow the resolutions of United Nations and a plebiscite in the held Kashmir. He expressed his wonder over the statement of Pervez Musharraf and pointed out that India had neither shown response nor recognized such proposals. Qazi said that Kashmir was an unfinished agenda and until it was not made a part of Pakistan, Pakistan was incomplete. He said that we did not support Pervez Musharraf in his policies as it meant to axe the very foundation of our own country, he opined.
About the news of Dr Qadeer critical health condition, Qazi said if anything was harmed to Dr Qadeer it would be a plan by the present rulers and added that Qadeer was a hero of our nation and any harm to him would not be tolerated.
HOSPITAL: Following the efforts of Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), Ihsanul Haque, Zaid Alnihyan Welfare Trust (ZWT) donated Rs four million to District Headquarter (DHQ) hospital Mardan for various welfare works.
While talking to pressmen here at his office Medical Superintendent (MS) Haji Ibrarullah of the DHQ disclosed that the amount was donated by the ZWT to the hospital by the efforts of Ihsanul Haque, which he termed a valuable step for the area. He said that he had received the cheque of Rs four million, which would help to solve the problems like providing clean drinking water, cleanness equipment, medicine and laboratory equipment and chemicals. He said that there were three tube wells in the premises of the area but they were not functioning, a new tube well would be immediately installed while the old would be repaired and be made workable on priority bases. Mr Ibrar thanked Ihsanul Haque and ZWT who generously donated for the DHQ hospital. He also appealed to the philanthropists of the area to come forward and help resolve the hospital problems.
Meanwhile, brother of the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Dr Abdur Rahim who is Executive District Officer (EDO) of Mardan disclosed that the chairman has also planning to donate Rs 0.07 million for the construction of a new tube well in the premises of the hospital. He said that the hospital lacked many facilities.
LITERACY: State Minister and Chairman of National Commission for Human Development (NCHD), Dr Nasim Ashraf, has said that the commission was working on a compact development plan on education and health, which aimed at raising the literacy ratio and provide maximum health facilities to the people.
Talking to the newsmen here during the visit of federal Schools, Mr Nasim appreciated the efficiency and hard work of the teachers and disclosed that these teachers were voluntarily teachings students of the far-flung areas. He said that their salary was raised from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 from Jan 1, 2005. He was also informed about the micro- enterprise development and volunteer works by a number of youth in the society while he appreciated Human Development Support Unit and the efficiency of NCHD.
