KARACHI: Murder suspect sent to jail

KARACHI, Oct 28: Judicial Magistrate (South) Rajesh Chander Rajput on Thursday sent Farooq Mengal to jail in the murder case of his wife, Afreen Baig.The investigation officer was directed to submit challan on Nov 10.

Police charged Farooq with hatching a conspiracy along with servants Mohammad Bux and Zahida to kill his wife Afreen Baig. The corpse of Afreen was found in her residence in DHA Phase-V on Oct 14

According to police, he hatched murder plot of his wife as he was suspicious of her character. Besides, he wanted to get monetary benefits as Afreen had invested huge amounts in production of some play serials and was soon expecting returns.

For executing the plan, he incited his driver Mohammad Bux Umrani for committing the murder promising that he will give him Rs1 million reward on performing the task.-PPI
