KARACHI, Oct 26: Taking into cognizance the plight of local women and infants, the Sindh health department has reactivated the maternity hospital in Shah Faisal Colony No.1 on round-the- clock basis following all necessary renovation and appointment of required staff.

Health Adviser Faisal Gabol Malik formally inaugurated the refurbished facility and announced establishment of a 50-bed general hospital in the area, considered to be one of the thickly populated localities of Karachi.

Mr Malik said that the facility would be well equipped and duly staffed with the motive to provide people health care facilities at their door steps. He maintained that the present government fully conscious of limited resources at its disposal was more keen to improve and upgrade the available facilities instead of going for new projects.

"Emphasis is on making proper and optimum application of existent infrastructure with due consideration towards their required renovation so that efficient support and care is provided to the masses," he elaborated.

Calling upon the area people as well as the staff assigned at Shah Faisal Maternity Hospital to ensure that the centre should be functional for 24 hours, Faisal Gabol also stressed for due consideration towards hygienic condition in and around the hospital.

He urged the masses to realize their responsibilities towards government facilities ensuring that they remain functional appropriately and efficiently.

Seeking cordial relationship and mutual respect between public and hospital staff, the adviser urged the hospital staff to fulfil their responsibility with a sense of commitment and dedication. -APP
