KARACHI, Oct 26: Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali of the Sindh High Court ordered on Tuesday the registration of a second FIR in respect of the kidnapping and murder of a man if his widow's version of the incident made out a cognizable offence.

Ms Aisha Khatoon alleged through her counsel, Advocate Shafqat Shah Masoomi, that her husband Azizullah Ujjan was kidnapped two years ago by a police official and his accomplices who wanted to grab his agricultural land in the village Pir Essa, police station Gambat, district Khairpur, and murdered him subsequently.

When she went to the police station, her complaint was not registered. She tried to pursue the matter, but the offenders proceeded to declare her and her daughter 'karo kari'.

The petitioner said she fled to Karachi, with her daughter and sought refuge at Darul Aman through a judicial magistrate's order. A concocted FIR of the murder was registered in a collusive manner and she was threatened with dire consequences if she pressed for the prosecution of real culprits.

Justice Jamali directed the Gambat SHO to record the statement of the petitioner in Karachi and register a second FIR if a cognizable offence was made out. Other formalities were also ordered to be completed in Karachi in view of the threats received by her. The DIG concerned was ordered to entrust the investigation of the kidnapping and murder case to "an independent and honest police officer", who shall complete his assignment 'at the earliest'.
