KASUR, Oct 25: The basic problem of both Pakistan and India is poverty and both the countries should show a flexibility in visa policies to boost their economies.
These views were expressed by Jhullandar Police Commissioner Dr Sawarn Singh while talking to newsmen here on Monday.
Dr Sawarn Singh is heading an Indian delegation comprising his wife, Amr Jeet Kaor, Panjan Panian De Warasat Secretary-General Dr Mahal Singh and Jhullandar Cultural and Sports Wing President Preetam Singh, currently on a visit to Pakistan.
Dr Sawarn Singh said the people from both sides wanted to improve relations, so both the governments should relax visa restrictions. He said Indian traders also wanted to invest in Pakistan which was a good and fruitful thinking. The Indian delegation also visited the shrine of Hazrat Baba Bulleh Shah (RA).
TEACHERS' WORKSHOP: The district government is taking solid steps to promote non-formal education vis-a-vis formal education so that the deprived children can get educational opportunities and the role of Unicef and other NGOs in this regard is appreciable.
These views were expressed by district Nazim Rana Imtiaz Ahmad Khan while speaking at a teachers training workshop held under the auspices of SOS.
On this occasion, Nazims of various union councils, representatives of NGOs and private school owners were also present.
The district Nazim said the government was focussing on missing facilities at educational institutions. He urged the UC Nazims to monitor the performance of literacy centres.
