KARACHI, Oct 25: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan has expressed concern over the reports that provincial ministers have become active in recruiting their party workers in government departments.

In a statement issued on Monday, Mr Khan urged President Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to take notice of the situation.

He pointed out that since 1988, all governments had been recruiting people on political grounds and recommendations which had badly affected the government departments.

"I believe in merit in all walks of life and it would be my utmost effort that the jobs are given to young educated people who meet the set criteria. The whole process must be transparent."

The nazim also urged Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim to make sure that all appointments were made on merit basis.-PPI
