KARACHI, Oct 24: Ex-Test pace bowler Fazle Akbar claimed a hat trick to put Peshawar firmly in driving seat of their Quaid-i-Azam Trophy fixture against Karachi at the Quaid-i-Azam Cricket Park on Sunday.

Fazle took the wickets of Khalid Latif, Hasan Raza and Saeed bin Nasir in his second over to reduce Karachi Blues to seven for three.

Janisar Khan then had night-watchman Azam Hussain to leave the hosts tottering at 25 for four at stumps on the third evening.

Earlier, Peshawar skipper Wajahatullah Wasti scored 71 off 170 balls with eight boundaries. Helped further by useful contributions from Akhtar Sarfraz (33), Taimur Khan (32) and Waqar Ahmed (33), Peshawar managed 294 in reply to the Blues' first innings of 310.
