KARACHI, Oct 21: Despite a century by Naveed Yasin, Karachi gained a first innings lead of 45 runs after bowling out Multan for 246 on the second day of the three-day PCB Under-19 Inter-region cricket tournament fixture at the Regional Academy Ground on Thursday.

Naveed, who came to the crease at 31 for three, held the visitors' innings together to score a stubborn 102 off 173 deliveries. His 259-minute knock was laced with 11 fours and one six.

Usman Hashmat made 46 off 88 balls with six hits to the fence and shared a fourth-wicket partnership of 89 with Naveed. Medium-pacers Anwar Ali and Saeed Khan claimed three wickets apiece.

Meanwhile at the KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi, pace bowler Zohaib Ahmed produced a stunning all-round performance to put the hosts firmly in control of their match against Quetta.

Rawalpindi were all out for 240 after starting the day at 129 for four. Bating at No 10, Zohaib struck seven fours in making 43.

Zohaib then ripped through Quetta batting to pick up six for 43 in 12.1 overs as the visitors were bundled out for 65 in 25.1 overs.

Rizwan Akbar took the other four wickets for 20 in 13 overs. Opener Abdul Majeed scored 30 for Quetta.

Our Sports Correspondent adds from Lahore: Despite half-centuries by Shahzad Ahmed and Raheel Ameer, Faisalabad conceded a first innings lead of 33 runs against Sialkot at the Sheikhupura Stadium.

Shahzad scored 82 with six boundaries off 171 balls while Raheel Ameer hammered 61 with 11 fours and one six as Faisalabad were all out for 333 in 82.5 overs.

On the first day, Sialkot rattled up 366 with Arsalan Anwar (123) and Adnan Younis (101) the chief scorers.
