ISLAMABAD, Oct 21: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has approved a scheme "Capacity of Building for Multipurpose Basic Medical Sciences Laboratory at Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences, Jamshoro" worth Rs35 million.

The approved amount would be provided to the university within this financial year other than its regular recurring and development grants, says an official statement.

The scheme aims not only at enhancing the capacity building of basic medical science laboratories of the university but also at increasing knowledge of new discoveries emerging from conducting research in the basic medical sciences.

Through the scheme, research would be carried out by determination of Biochemical and Physiological process of the diseases for clear diagnosis and treatment of illness.

It would also increase enrolment of post-graduate M.Phil and Ph.D medical students and researchers for conducting high quality research through latest laboratory facilities.

One of the major objectives of the scheme is to improve the situation for human resource development in the advanced and emerging areas of the basic medical and health sciences.
