KARACHI, Oct 18: The committee of the Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association which met here with its Sindh President Prof Riaz Ahsan in the chair on Monday, decided to continue its struggle for recruitment and promotions of teachers and removal of Sindh Education Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro.

The meeting, which was attended by the SPLA office-bearers from Sukkur, Hyderabad and other cities of Sindh, besides Karachi decided to hold protest demonstrations at district headquarters throughout the province during Ramazan.

The office-bearers, condemning Dr Khuhro's statement in which she had asked teachers to resign, instead, asked the minister to resign herself for failing to resolve the teachers' problems.

"Instead of issuing baseless statements, aimed at creating rift among teaching community, the education minister should concentrate on resolving teachers' issues and improving state of literacy in the province," the meeting observed.-PPI
