KARACHI, Oct 18: A young man was shot dead in a Lyari locality on Monday. Police identified the victim as Rasool Buksh. According to the police, Rasool Buksh was sitting near his house in Gul Mohammad Lane when unknown persons shot him and fled. He died on the spot and his body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for postmortem examination.

Police believed that the victim belonged to the notorious Arshad Pappu gang. Tension grew high in the area after the incident.

In another incident, a young man died in accidental fire early on Monday in Baghdadi area of Lyari.

Police said that Arsalan and Akhtar Ali, along with other friends, were having a chat after sehri in a locality in the jurisdiction of Baghdadi police station. Arsalan had a weapon which went off accidentally and the bullet hit Akhtar Ali.

Police said that the bullet pierced through the victim's neck killing him on the spot. Arsalan fled from the spot.

Akhtar Ali was a resident of Bihar Colony. His body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for postmortem examination.

An activist of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement was shot dead in Korangi on Monday.

Zaman Town police said that Haji Abdul Ghafoor was sitting outside his house when armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire at him and fled. Haji Ghafoor suffered multiple bullet wounds and died on way to a hospital. His body was shifted to the Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre for postmortem examination.

FIRE: A big fire broke out in a godown of tyre manufacturing material in Korangi at about 5pm on Monday.An official of the fire department said that the blaze also engulfed the adjacent factory.

Some 20 fire tenders worked for three hours to extinguish the fire. No one sustained injury in the fire that caused extensive damage to the godown and factory.
