Liaquat's death anniversary observed

KARACHI, Oct 16: The 53rd death anniversary of Quaid-i-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan was observed with reverence for the leader on Saturday in the city as elsewhere in the country.

Quran Khawani was held at the grave of the first premier of the country, which is located within the premises of the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad ALi Jinnah.

The sons of Quaid-i-Millat, Ashraf Liaquat Ali Khan and Akbar Liaquat Ali Khan visited the mazar, offered fateha and laid wreaths there.

Representative of the three armed forces also visited the mazar, offered fateha and laid floral wreath. People from various walks of life also visited the mazar to pay homage to the leader and offered fateha.

In a statement, the president of the All Pakistan Women's Association (APWA), Begum Tazeen Faridi, described Oct 16 as a day of remembrance.

"His (Liaqat Ali Khan's) memories live in the hearts of the people", the APWA statement added.-APP
