KARACHI: FTC flyover opened

KARACHI, Oct 16: The FTC Flyover, recently constructed at a cost of Rs109.4 million, was inaugurated by City Nazim Naimatullah Khan on Saturday and was opened for traffic.

The nazim also inspected the development work along with officials concerned, elected representatives and newsmen.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Naimatullah Khan said that after the construction of Lyari Expressway, Northern Bypass, major roads and flyovers, a visible change in the city's traffic system would be witnessed.

"Development of parks and construction of flyovers and roads is underway to make Karachi a model city and development works in Karachi are being acknowledged at national level," he added.

The city nazim said that the FTC Flyover had been completed six months ahead of schedule like the Shah Faisal Flyover. At least, 20 major thoroughfares in the city would be inaugurated by December this year.

He revealed that designs had been finalized for setting up of a recreational spot in North Nazimabad on 45-acre land, adding that record development works would be carried out in the current year.

Naib Nazim Tariq Hassan said that the FTC Flyover and other traffic development plans would provide relief to the people, adding that the pace of development activities had been expedited due to keen interest shown by President Musharraf.
