LAHORE, Oct 16: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has nominated district and sessions judges of five districts to act as district returning officers for conducting by-elections to vacant seats of union council Nazims and Naib Nazims.

By-polls will be held in UC-54, Toba Tek Singh; UC-165, Gujranwala; UC-34, Multan; UC-24, Bahawalnagar; and UC-70, Rahim Yar Khan.

Meanwhile, none of the eight MPAs, including a provincial minister, who had been barred from functioning by the commission had filed declaration of its assets with the ECP on Saturday.

The MPAs had been penalized for not submitting their annual declaration of assets with the ECP as required under the law.
