Four more PCB events set to start

KARACHI, Oct 9: Apart from the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy national cricket championship, the PCB's domestic cricket managers have decided to go ahead with four more tournaments that will be played simultaneously, starting from Monday.

A day after the first-class season begins, the PCB Inter-regional Level-II and Inter-regional under-19 championships kick off with the limited-overs competitions.

From Wednesday, the three-day events of both competitions will get under way with the same two regional teams which played in the one-day fixture two days earlier.

In the PCB Inter-regional under-19, teams from Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Hyderabad, Peshawar, Sialkot and Quetta are taking part.

There are 11 outfits in fray in the PCB Inter-regional Level-II tournaments with Karachi and Lahore being represented by two teams each. The competing teams have been divided into two pools. Pool 'A', which has six teams, includes Lahore Blues, Karachi Blues, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Peshawar. Karachi Whites, Lahore Whites, Multan, Quetta and Hyderabad make up the five-team Pool 'B'.

The following teams will represent Karachi in the tournaments:

KARACHI U-19 SQUAD: Fawwad Alam (captain), Fazal Mohammad Khan, Ali Asad, Behram Khan, Fahad Iqbal, Waqas Haroon, Ramiz Raja, Asadullah Sumairi, Sarfraz Ahmed, Irfan Ansari, Nasir Aziz, Noman Alvi, Anwar Ali, Saeed Khan, Uzairul Haq, Owais Ahmed Rehmani, Mohammad Fahim, Hassan Raza, Asad Butt, Asad Shafiq.

KARACHI WHITES LEVEL-II SQUAD: Mohammad Masroor (captain), Mohammad Farooq (vice-captain), Wajid Ali, Ariz Kamal, Mansoor Baig, Salman Khan, Rashid Ali, Mati-ur-Rehman, Farhan Iqbal, Atif Maqbool, Fahim Ahmed, Mansoor Ahmed, Sharif Asadullah, Wajahat Farooqui, Malik Aftab. Reserves: Naeem Khan, Sharjeel Ashraf, Adnan Baig, Mohammad Zafar, Mohammad Farrukh.

KARACHI BLUES LEVEL-II SQUAD: Tariq Haroon (captain), Wasim Naeem (vice-captain), Wajihuddin, Fahadullah, Ashraf Ali, Tariq Rasheed, Amin-ur-Rehman, Abdul Qadir, Farman Shah, Haris Ayaz, Mohammad Ali Zafar, Adeel Malik, Faraz Ahmed Khan, Iftikhar Ali. Reserves: Aamir Iqbal, Javed Mansoor, Adnan Kalim, Afsar Nawaz.

Oct 11: Lahore Blues v Karachi Blues at LCCA Ground, Lahore; Faisalabad v Sialkot at Sports Ground, Sargodha; Peshawar v Rawalpindi at Gymkhana Club Ground, Peshawar; Karachi Whites v Quetta at UBL Sports Complex, Karachi; Multan v Lahore Whites at Bahawalpur Stadium. (The same teams meet again in the three-day competition from Oct 13-15).

PCB Under-19 Inter-regional Tournaments:

Oct 11: Peshawar v Quetta at Abbottabad Stadium; Multan v Hyderabad at Gymkhana Club Ground, Okara; Faisalabad v Lahore at Jawwad Sports Complex, Faisalabad; Rawalpindi v Sialkot at KRL Stadium, Rawalpindi (The same teams meet again in the three-day competition from Oct 13-15).
