LAHORE, Oct 2: Physicist Dr Henderson has said that fibre optic sensor technique is not only useful for communication purpose but it can also be used to determine the strength of a building structure.

Dr Henderson, a professional physicist working in industry as application engineer on fibre optic Structural Health Monitoring Systems, was delivering a special lecture on Fibre Optic Health Monitoring organized by the physics department of the Government College University on Saturday.

He also explained the importance of the health monitoring of building using relatively new technique of fibre optic sensors.

Physics department chairman Dr Hasan Shah said that Dr Henderson had two patents, 30 journals, conference publications and membership in the Institute of Physics (IOP) United Kingdom. He also had a teaching and research experience at the universities of Liverpool, Kent and Sydney.

Dr G Murtaza, Dr NM Butt, Dr IM Ghauri and a large number of students were also present on the occasion.
