KARACHI, Sept 25: LPG Distributors and Welfare Association has called off the strike after the government assurance that it would take up the increase in price with the producers.
There will be no strike on Sunday, a statement of the association said.
Petroleum Ministry official and Director General Gas have also assured the LPG distributors that the LPG marketing companies would also be asked to curtail their profits, office bearers of the association said while referring to a negotiation between LPG Advisory Committee Chairman and government officials.
LPG distributor had kept their business closed for the two consecutive days (Friday and Saturday) to lodge protest against producers and marketing companies for persistent price increase in the last four months.
Association's chairman, Hadi Khan said that the government officials have been urged to use their pressure with the producers for raising the production to stabilize prices in the market. Increase in production would help in bringing back the prices at old levels. He said that all the distributors will resume their business activities from Sunday.
