NEW DELHI, Sept 4: India's main opposition Bharatiya Janata party slammed Foreign Minister Kunwar Natwar Singh on Saturday for pre-judging results of talks with his Pakistani counterpart expected to start on Sunday.

"I think it was unnecessary on the part of Natwar Singh to announce results of talks in advance," said BJP leader and former foreign minister Yashwant Sinha.

Press Trust of India said Mr Sinha was referring to Mr Singh's statement a couple of days ago, in which he urged people not to expect a "spectacular breakthrough or a dramatic breakdown" in the two-day Pakistan-India foreign minister-level talks.

Mr Sinha said Mr Singh should have first held discussions with Mr Kasuri and after the talks say "what he has achieved and not achieved".-J.N.
