Ramiz was sacked: ICA official

Published August 8, 2004

ISLAMABAD, Aug 7: The Islamabad Cricket Association (ICA) claimed on Saturday that chief executive of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ramiz Raja had not resigned but had been sacked.

"We have information that Ramiz who has done a lot of harm to Pakistan cricket has been shown the door by chairman Shahryar M. Khan after seeking prior approval of the PCB patron," said Javed Ali Khan, a spokesman for ICA.

The association hailed Shahryar for taking what it said was a "bold step" which would help cleanse Pakistan cricket of unwanted elements.

Syed Abrar Rizvi, president of the Islamabad Cricket Forum, said he was relieved to learn that Ramiz would no more be running cricket. "It is indeed great news," he said.
