RIYADH, July 24: A wanted Saudi militant has expressed willingness to surrender at his country's embassy in Pakistan, despite the expiry of a royal amnesty, a mediator told AFP Saturday.
Khaled al-Assiry was expected to surrender anytime on Saturday, Sheikh Safar al-Hawali said.
"A mediator called me late afternoon yesterday (Friday), telling me that Khaled Assiry expressed his willingness to surrender," said Hawali, who has been actively mediating between the government and terror suspects.
According to Hawali, a number of the so-called mediators are ex-veterans of the Afghan war against the former Soviet Union.
Assiry's name has been referred to the authorities and all measures taken to arrange for his surrender and repatriation, Hawali said.-AFP
