LAHORE, July 24: The Labour Party Pakistan organized on Saturday province-wide protests to demand release of 80 tenants.

The party activists held a demonstration outside the Lahore Press Club to condemn the arrest of 80 Anjuman-i-Mazareen Punjab members from the premises of Okara district and sessions court.

The protesters were carrying placards demanding an end to 'state terrorism' against the tenants.

LPP secretary-general Tariq Farooq said the tenants were arrested after the release of a Human Rights Watch report which exposed the high-handedness of the Rangers and police.

He said the party would continue to support the ownership of 'death campaign' of the tenants.

Yousaf Baloch, Javed Iqbal Bhatti, Mushtaq Goraya, Nazli Javed and Azra Shad also spoke to the participants and demanded immediate release of the tenants.
