KARACHI, July 24: The managing director, Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB), Brig Iftikhar Haider, has directed engineers of the KWSB to prepare schemes envisaged under the Karachi Development Package and ensure their immediate implementation.

The schemes under the package included upgrading of water supply and sewerage system, pumping stations and filter plants.

Addressing a high-level meeting to review various projects of the board on Saturday, he said these schemes should be launched immediately so that people benefit from them.

The MD informed officials that before the completion of 100 MGD water supply schemes, leakage should be immediately plugged to stop water from going to waste and so that citizens get maximum water.

He stressed the need for preparing such schemes under the KDP which would improve the overall performance of the KWSB.

Brig Iftikhar Haider said there was a need to upgrade 160 pumping stations and filter plants, and cleaning of big water reservoirs in the city.

He informed the meeting that various water and sewerage lines in the city had completed their physical life and needed replacements. - APP
