RIYADH, June 2: An Islamic summit on Palestine, as was requested by the Palestinian President Yasser Arafat is not under consideration, an official of the 57-member Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) was quoted here as saying.

Contacts (on the subject) with the leaders of the Islamic countries show there is no enthusiasm for holding the summit, the official was quoted here as saying.

Qatar, the current chairman of the OIC has favoured the holding of such a summit. Libya and Yemen have also reportedly favoured the idea. The President called mid-April for a summit as the Israeli pressed the offensive on the West Bank after a series of suicide bombings.

The OIC official also added that Afghanistan will reoccupy its seat at the June 24 OIC ministerial meeting in Khartoum.
