BAHAWALPUR, June 27: In order to mobilize electorate, PPP workers and office-bearers organized a rally in PP-276 (Yazman tehsil) on Sunday.

It was led by former federal ministers Sardar Assef Ahmed Ali, Khalid Kharal, Makhdum Shahabuddin, Anwarul Haq Ramay and ARD's bypoll candidate Iftikhar Ahmed Cheema.

The rally comprising cars and jeeps began from Ashraf Sugar Mills, Ashrafabad (Bahawalpur), and travelled about 60 Kilometres up to Head Rajkan in PP-276 in Yazman tehsil, where a public meeting was held.

Earlier on its way from Ashrafabad to Head Rajkan, the PPP leaders addressed roadside and corner meetings at about five places.

In the evening, the PPP leaders left for Mauza Mubarakpur in PP-269, Ahmedpur East tehsil, where Bahawalpur district PPP president Riaz Dahar is contesting the bypoll against ruling party's Sardar Khalid Mahmood Warren.

The PPP organized a meeting there in which leaders criticized the government for pre-poll rigging and dumping Zafrullah Khan Jamali. Meanwhile, PML-N leaders have condemned the assassination of Pir Binyamin Rizvi.

District president Chaudhry Mumtaz Ahmed Jajja, Punjab PML VP and former parliamentary secretary Samiullah Chaudhry, MPAs Malik Mohammed Iqbal Channar, Parveen Masood Bhatti and former MNA Seth Aqeelur Rehman said the government had failed to maintain law and order.
