PESHAWAR, June 26: An additional district and sessions judge, Ahmad Sultan Tareen, has taken exception to the non-compliance of the Juvenile Justice System Ordinance by the local police and has directed the Chief Capital City Police to take action against the officials concerned.

The court observed that the SHO of Pishtakhara police station had failed to comply with the court's orders despite several directives and a juvenile accused in a case was suffering simply because of the SHO's inaction.

Despite the court orders, a juvenile offender, Hussain Ali, is being treated by the local police as an adult in a criminal case and instead of submitting a separate challan (charge-sheet) against him to the court, the police had charged him jointly with an adult accused in the challan.

Under the JJSO it is binding on the police to submit a separate challan of a juvenile offender.

The case was registered against Hussain Ali and an adult Sher Ali at police station Pishtakhara on Nov 9, 2003, under sections 324, 353, 400, 401 of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 13-A of the Arms Ordinance.
