MIRPURKHAS, June 25: All Sindh Primary Teachers Association secretary-general and affected teachers have expressed resentment over stoppage of difference payment by the district accounts officer on directive of the Sindh additional finance secretary.

Speaking to journalists here on Thursday, ASPTA secretary- general Shaheen Akhtar Sunghera and affected teachers said that payment of differences, arrears of move-overs, selection grades and advancement increments had been stopped by the provincial finance department.

Claiming that many difference bills were pending for a long time for want of funds, they said that most of the bills were passed by the district accounts office but the accounts officer, on receiving the directive, refused to issue the payment cheques.

They warned that if their payment was not cleared, it could lead to a law and order situation.

The teachers demanded that the additional finance secretary should withdraw the directive and ensure payment to them, failing which, they would be compelled to hold protest demonstrations.

YOUTH KILLED: A man, Jamshed Alam Mari, 28, was shot dead allegedly by Shesh Mardan Mari over an old enmity in the Mohammad Hassan Mari village, Mirpurkhas taluka, on Monday night.
