ISLAMABAD, June 5: The law and order situation has gone out of control right from Gilgit to Karachi owing to the wrong policies being pursued for over four years.

This was stated by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Chairman Raja Mohammad Zafarul Haq in a statement issued here on Saturday.

The PML-N leader said it had also been proved that 'uniform' could never be effective in promoting national solidarity and resolving problems confronting the people. The only solution to all the problems lies in complete restoration and sincere implementation of the 1973 Constitution after purging it of the LFO, he added.

The PML-N leader said Gen Anthony Zinny had revealed in his book that Nawaz Sharif personally opposed troops withdrawal from the Kargil sector, but Gen Pervez Musharraf asked him to agree on the withdrawal, and the former prime minister was then forced to accept President Clinton's formula in order to save Pakistan armed forces from humiliation.

Mr Haq said Gen Zinny's disclosure had confirmed correctness of the position taken by Nawaz Sharif and the PML-N. Wherever real facts came to light they would prove that every step taken by the government of Nawaz Sharif was based on sincere perception of national interests, he added.

Mr Raja said the forces engaged in restraining the role of political parties by depriving the people of popular leadership must realize the failure of their stratagems.
