ISLAMABAD, May 29: Shaharyar M. Khan, the head of Pakistan Cricket Board, is to make "fundamental decisions" once the advisory committee meeting is held on June 4. "The time has now come to do so," he told a press conference at a local hotel flanked by PCB's chief executive Ramiz Raja.

"We have to professionalise our headquarters by bringing in professionals where required. If we need a marketing man, we will hire a specialist, similarly if a cricketer is needed for a certain post we will engage a player."

The PCB has hired the services of Australian great Greg Chappell as a consultant who will also coach the players in the academies for one month in a year.

Ramiz said the June 4 meeting will discuss the optimisation of the national and regional academies. "We want to focus more and more on the academies to produce good, educated players for the future."

He also disclosed plans of establishing a National Umpiring Council. "Things are certainly looking up."

Ramiz regretted that the PCB's administrative success in organising the recent India series had not been given the credit it deserved by the media.
