MUZAFFARABAD, May 29: AJK Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat on Saturday ordered the constitution of a judicial commission to probe into the Kathai incident which left one dead and 15 others wounded.
The prime minister was ired at the handling of the incident during a meeting with senior officials, including his adviser Raja Farooq Haider, additional chief secretary (development), secretary and chief engineer electricity, IGP, managing director Hydro Electric Board, deputy commissioner and SSP Muzaffarabad.
The commission, Mr Haider later told reporters, was constituted under the Commission of Inquiry Act 1956 and would be headed by a session judge, who would be nominated by the Azad Jammu Kashmir High Court Chief Justice.
The PM asked the officials to explain as to why a facility which the people were enjoying for the past couple of years had been withdrawn without proper alternate arrangements.
"Whoever is found guilty will be brought to book," Mr Haider quoted the prime minister as saying.
The prime minister, Mr Haider said, had said that officials should have been more careful in handling any such situation because of the Kathai area's close proximity to the Line of Control.
Meanwhile, the prime minister also approved a compensation amounting to Rs100,000 for the family of the deceased who was the sole bread winner of their seven-member family after the death of his father six months ago.
Mr Haider said he would also ensure that his mother was given a proper job in some women's institution.
