KARACHI, May 29: Two alleged activists of banned outfit Harkatul Mujahideen Al-Aalmi were remanded to CID custody till June 3 by Judicial Magistrate, East, Sadaf Asif here on Saturday.

Abdul Aziz alias Alwa alias Al-Fatah and Fida Hussain Abbasi were arrested by the CID Police in Gulistan-i-Johar on Friday, remand papers said.

The investigating officer requested the court that illicit arms and ammunition was recovered from the possession of the accused and further recovery is expected.

The IO submitted that physical custody of the accused is required for interrogation leading to arrest of other members of the out-fit. The JM remanded the accused to the custody of the CID police till June 3.

BAIL GRANTED: Judicial Magistrate East Ghulam Farooq Shaikh on Saturday admitted two policemen to bail against a solvent surety of Rs25,000 each in a case registered against them under the new Police Order, 2002.

ASI Iqbal and Constable Nazeer Ahmed were booked under Section 151 of PPO as due to their alleged negligence Abdul Qayyoom facing trial in a murder case escaped from Judicial Complex on May 24.

The judicial magistrate after hearing the counsel for applicants admitted them to bail.

Judicial Magistrate South Farzana Mushtaq remanded one Kashif, an accountant of the City Government, to custody of the city court police till May 31.

Kashif was accused of stealing a cheque and attempting to encash it after making fake/ forged entries/ signatures.

He was arrested as bank manager got suspicious due to huge amount of the cheque (Rs4.75 million). The manager informed the CDGK officials who rushed to the Al-Habib Bank branch at Al-Noor and found that the cheque was stolen a fortnight back.-APP
