ISLAMABAD, May 29: The Rawalpindi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has proposed to the government to announce at least five years income tax exemptions for the poultry industry for its revival on war footing manner.

The RCCI in its budget proposal for the year 2004-05 suggested to the government to announce incentives for the poultry, which was second growing industry of Pakistan.

This industry has unfortunately faced a sever crises of its history. Stakeholders of this industry faced huge losses especially small farmers. Millions of people were associated with this industry directly or indirectly.

The RCCI proposed that for the revival of small and medium farmers, government should provide working capital loan on easy terms and lower the rate of mark-up.

It was recommended that the government should give a task to the commercial counsellors abroad to clear the negative propaganda against the poultry industry at world level.

WHO and other international health organizations have declared Pakistan's poultry free of any disease, which was not harmful for human consumption.

The negative media trial and propaganda had hampered the exports severely. Export figures have come to zero level. Industry has lost almost all export orders during the current financial year.
