HYDERABAD: Policemen suspended

Published May 23, 2004

HYDERABAD, May 22: On directives of PPO Syed Kamal Shah, two inspectors and a sub-inspector of Sanghar district have been suspended while action is being taken against the prosecution DSP in regard to the murder of Shazia Khaskheli and Hassan Solangi.

A police official on Friday said that the then senior investigating officer, inspector Arshad Premi; the then SHO, inspector Zahid Ahmed Nasir; and the first investigating officer, sub-inspector Pyar Ali Hingoro, had been suspended while disciplinary action was being taken against prosecution DSP Zainul Abideen, as Shazia's father, Mir Hassan Khaskheli, was released on his orders.

The action followed on spot inquiries by the PPO on April 21 on directives of the Supreme Court which had expressed annoyance over the way the Sanghar police had handled the case that led to the murder of the newly-wed couple.
