KARACHI, May 15: The left over results of degree class annual examinations, which were held some five months back, would be released by May 31.

Talking to Dawn on Saturday, the examination controller, Karachi University, Inkisarul Haq, said that results of degree class examinations were almost ready and the department was all set to release the same on May 17.

He said that results of BCom (part-II) and MBBS third year examinations would be released on Monday, which would be followed by BSc (Part-II) and BA (Part-II) results. He hoped that if things went right medical examination and degree class results would be released during the current month.

A source in the KU examination department said that the related data had been received from quarters concerned, but the tabulation and compilation works were delayed due to power breakdowns and law and order situation in the city.

Delay in the announcement of results has been a source of concern among the students, aspiring admissions to different academic programmes run in the evening by the varsity. The KU has already started admission process for the programme from May 12, while May 22 is the last date for submission of admission forms.

When contacted, KU Evening Programme Director Dr Shahid Zaidi said that the admission committee of the varsity had already announced measures for the students waiting for degree examination results.

He said that candidates had been advised to attach admit cards of their respective degree class examinations while applying for masters programmes, in case results were not announced within the given time.

"Admission committee would accept applications from students concerned, with admit cards, and get the results confirmed from the examination department, as an adhoc arrangement, provided the results are out latest by May 31," he added.
