KHAIRPUR, May 15: A case was registered against twelve farmers, including a union council Naib Nazim and two councillors, by the Faiz Ganj police on Friday on the charge of water theft.

Those booked were Pakka Chang UC Naib Nazim Ashiq Hussain Rajpar, Suleman Khaskheli, Aijaz Khaskheli, Sultan Rajpar, Zulfiqar Chang, Leemon Rajpar, Sikandar Rajpar, Raheem Bukhsh Rajpar, Allan Rajpar and Mohammad Umer Rajpar.

Meanwhile, the People's Party Parliamentarians-backed candidate for the district naib nazim seat, Sher Mohammad Phulpoto, condemned the registration of the case against the naib nazim and two councillors.

Talking to this correspondent, he said the registration of the case was aimed at influencing the election of the district naib nazim scheduled for May 22.

He demanded of the Election Commission to take notice of the matter and initiate an inquiry into it.

PROTEST: The relatives of a killed food department supervisor, Shahnawaz Kanhar, continued their protest against the Ahmedpur police on the second consecutive day on Saturday by staging a sit-in outside the local press club.

They were demanding early arrest of the killers.

PROCESSION: Students of the Mehtani Middle School took out a procession and blocked Gambat-Razidero road by staging a sit-in on it.

They told journalists that their education was being badly affected as against the sanctioned strength of eight teachers, only three had been posted in the school.
