HYDERABAD, May 14: The Sindh Services and General Administration department issued orders on Friday under which 18 surplus employees of the Sindhi Adabi Board were provided jobs at the Hyderabad DCO office against suitable posts.

Earlier, they were transferred to the education department of Hyderabad but the EDO had refused to accept them.

WIRELESS TOWERS: The general manager of the Southern Telecommunication Region-I, Mureed Shah, has said that wireless towers will be installed at Hyderabad, Tando Mohammad Khan and Hala by Dec 2004 which will eliminate all complaints about disturbances in telephone lines.

He was speaking to members of the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Thursday.

Mr Shah said that the Bhittai Nagar telephone exchange would also start working within a week which would decrease load on the city telephone exchange.

He directed that the divisional engineers to conduct survey of vegetable market and industrial areas of Hyderabad with a view to increasing 1,000 telephone lines in the Hyderabad site exchange.

About Kotri, the general manager informed that the Kotri site telephone exchange had been increased by 1,000 lines and added that there was no shortage of telephone lines there.

He said that the Kotri site exchange had been connected with the Jamshoro exchange through a ring system to remove the cable fault. He said that the Hyderabad Chamber had been provided the facility of hot line.

The president of the chamber Emad Siddiqui underlined the problems of the industrial and commercial telephone subscribers.

Deputy general manager Mirza Mughal, director telephones Mehboob Joyo, director telegraph, Muzaffar Shaikh and divisional engineers of the region were also present on the occasion.
