Four Indian soldiers killed

JAMMU, March 12: Four Indian soldiers and at least one freedom fighter were killed on Friday in a gunbattle in Kashmir near the Line of Control (LoC), a defence official said.

Rebels opened fire as troops raided a suspected hideout in the Surankot area of Poonch district, 240 kilometres northwest of Jammu, the official said.

He said four soldiers and one fighter were killed and that the firing was continuing into the early evening.-AFP
