KARACHI, March 12: Five people died in a road accident on the Super Highway on early Friday morning, while an elderly woman lost her life in another accident in Malir. The five men died as a result of a head on collision between two trucks near New Sabzi Mandi.

Police said that the truck, LS-1161, was coming from the Hyderabad, while a smaller truck, LS-1553, was coming from the city and heading to the Mandi, when they collided.

The victims, Tariq Khan, 30, Raja Khan, 15, Azizur Rehman, 43, along with two other unidentified men, were travelling in the small truck, the police said. The bodies were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy.

The accident caused about an hour-long blocking of the Super Highway, during which the wreckage was removed and bodies were shifted.

The police said that driver of the errant vehicle managed to escaped from the spot following the accident.

In another accident, an elderly woman died in a hit-and-run accident in Saudabad.

Police said that Allahrakhi, 70, who was knocked down by an unknown vehicle near Liaquat Market Malir, died on the spot and her body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities.

KILLED: A young woman was stabbed to death by his relative in New Karachi Industrial Area on Friday. Police said that Amna, 24, mother of three, was allegedly stabbed to death by her brother-in-law in a dispute over property in a shanty town.Police said that the suspect, identified as Saleem, fled from the spot following the incident.

DIES: A young woman died of burns in Jamshad Quarters on Friday. Police said that Samina, 24, suffered serious burns in her Jamshad Quarters apartment. The victim was rushed to the Civil Hospital, where she died during treatment. The police, however, did not have the details about the incident.
